NSPNR’s Rural Women’s Resilience event, hosted in Borden at the Borden Pavillion on Sunday the 7th of November, brought together 75 men and women for a wonderful day of resilience building. The event was inspired in particular by an article written by Aimee Makeham that Stevi (NSPNR Project Officer and Coordinator of this event) read earlier in the year. The article struck a chord in relation to mental health of women in regional areas and resonated with us here at NSPNR. So we decided to create an event to bring people together, make new and strengthen old connections, and have a conversation about resilience – for us personally, our gardens and our surrounding environment.
We had the wonderful Sabrina Hahn as our headline presenter, and she did NOT disappoint! Ella Maesepp (Katanning Eco House) and Ellie Cameron (registered psychologist) both gave extremely insightful presentations on the day too. We appreciate all the presenters coming to our community to share their knowledge.
Some other amazing people who made the event run smoothly include Caitlin & Olivia from the Tambellup daycare for running the creche for the kids, Pip Moir from the Borden Pavillion for all her help, Candice Smith (The Country Mixer) who catered our delicious lunch, Elenna Fisher (Graze and Cake by Len) who provided the extraordinary sundowner nibbles & Laura Wishart brought her delightful Shepards Hut wines for us to try too! Big thanks has to go to our sponsors; Amity Health, South Coast NRM, the Australian government through the National Landcare program, Ellen and Richard from Stonesthrow Farmhouse who provided accommodation for Sabrina and the Sundowner venue.
