Heywire Trailblazers

On behalf of our organisation, staff members Dimity McMorran and Freya Spencer headed over to Canberra last week to present our Pallinup River Restoration Project to parliament as part of the ABC 2020 Heywire Trailblazer Competition.

ABC Heywire proudly recognised 18 emerging leaders from across the country who are each fighting the fight as winners of the 2020 Trailblazers competition.

They are the faces behind 11 projects strengthening remote, rural, and regional Australia in the more obvious ways — as well as those not visible to the naked eye.

At the Heywire Summit, Dimity and Freya spent time developing their ideas before presenting them to Members of Parliament, senators, and community leaders at Parliament House in Canberra. They also featured on ABC’s Triple J Hack program, Radio National’s Life Matters Program and ABC Great Southern Breakfast (see links below).

NSPNR would like to say thanks to the Heywire team for putting all this together and inviting us to be part of this program!

Another huge thanks to all the funders and people involved in making this project happen: State Natural Resource Management Program WA, Nail'd At Tiffany's, Janicke Environmental Investigations, Threshold Environmental, Gondwana Link and Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund. BUT the biggest thanks goes to our farmers, thanks for giving us your land, time and resources - without you Landcare wouldn't happen.
